Q: Do you buy puzzles from freelancers?
A: We do, but at this time we are not accepting puzzles from any new contributors.
Q: Can I make a living writing puzzles?
A: Most constructors do it as a hobby, and also have a regular job. Only the big-name superstars can make enough to support themselves.
Q: How do I get started writing puzzles?
A: Look carefully at many examples of the puzzle type that you're interested in, and analyze how the puzzle works. Read the solving instructions provided in the magazine carefully; there may be certain conventions to the puzzle (such as starting letters spelling out the author and title, or acceptable minimum word lengths) that you were unaware of. After you've created your first attempt, have a puzzle-loving friend solve it to see if he or she runs into any problems.
